What Do I Think Of Graphic Design As A Profession?

Honestly, I think the profession of Graphic Design is very interesting. You have the ability to convey emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and morals through artwork and that's amazing! It's kind of being a mentalist of sorts, thinking about how certain colors will effect the thought trying to be conveyed and how the image you create affects the image a person will now have about the group/company/organization. A graphic artist tends to have a lot of power when you think about it, logos for companies such as McDonald's or Nike or even Amazon are now extremely iconic and recognizable from miles away. The graphic design artists behind those logos had a goal in mind and were able to complete it. they were able to convey the thought or emotions they were going for and created universally recognizable logos. That's the kind of power or skill a graphic design artist has in these topics.

The different areas you can work within the field of Graphic design are one, Animator and second, art directors.

The salary range for a Graphic Designer ranges from $25,000-$62,000

Another fact or detail about the field of Graphic design that I found interesting (Animation) after researching the sites I was given is that it's very hard to get a job for that profession, the big companies want nothing less than a BA and a good amount of experience. It's a fair requirement when you think about it though. The things they output are immediately expected to be of higher quality than that of the smaller companies.

My Graphic Design Experience

I actually learned many things today, in terms of graphic design, that I can use in the future. I was taught things such as the enormous role of cooperation, the importance of being able to speak and express your thoughts/motives behind a piece efficiently, and how that plays in the industry. And it's so true! having friends who can help you is a big advantage in the industry but being able to convey your process is a big plus on its own. I also learned how to design and run my own blog, which is already super fun!


The peers I was able to connect with today were with all of those in my row. Jimmy, Darik, Edward, and Jose. I was able to talk to them, although briefly, about their interest and hear about their grand ambitions. It really motivated me to chase my ambitions and stay focused and study hard to prepare for the road ahead.

The things I'm looking forward to understanding while in graphic design are things such as the process a graphic design artist takes in designing logos, websites and such. While also trying to understand and merge the mental process they have with mine. I'm very excited!
